VAMC Battle Creek Elevator Replacement
Diekema Hamann Architecture + Engineering were selected to evaluate the replacement of elevators in Buildings 14 and 82 at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek, MI. Phasing, operations, and cost were primary factors in the analysis. After working closely with the VAMC Engineering staff, it was determined that adding an elevator to Building 82 was the best strategic use of the funding.
In Building 82, the existing elevator is required to remain in operation during and after construction so the new, holed hydraulic elevator will be located immediately south of the existing elevator. The lobbies, nurse stations, offices, and toilet rooms on the affected floors were also renovated as part of this facility update project.
