In response to the need for OB and primary care services in the community, the Family Health Center of Battle Creek engaged Diekema Hamann to design a new two story 28,500 square foot women’s services clinic with an additional 17,000 square foot shelled space for expansion. The new building for the federally qualified healthcare provider is strategically located near Bronson Battle Creek Hospital providing an opportunity for collaborationbetween the Family Health Center and the Bronson Battle Creek Birth Center.

The new building provided a full women’s services clinic on the first level of the building with a two story waiting and reception atrium. The second level was shelled out for future expansion clinic space and was designed to accommodate the same clinic footprint and function as the first level clinic. The lower level consisted of large meeting, group visit rooms, and classrooms along with the mechanical and electrical support spaces. An underground tunnel was provided to connect the
new building to their existing building providing secure and covered access for staff.
This project is partially funded through an HRSA Grant.
