Springport High School

Before designing the alterations, Diekema Hamann was hired by the district to complete a facilities needs study for the high school. More than 100 community members volunteered their time to collaborate with the firm on a comprehensive review of the existing facility and an analysis of current and future needs. Their involvement throughout the process helped foster community buy-in, and many task force members stayed on to marshall the bond campaign. Despite the district's long history of bond failures, this bond issue passed on its first presentation to voters.

Diekema Hamann coordinated the community task forces, interviewed all faculty and staff members, and helped establish a master facilities program for the district. As a result of the study, renovations included a comprehensive upgrade of mechanical and electrical systems and alterations to bring the facility into code compliance.
